How Our Rustic Cedar Window Shutters Are Made

Step 1: Selecting Solid Cedar

We use cedar for its ability to withstand the outdoor elements.

Step 2: Cutting

We cut each board to your window's specific length and width requirements.

Step 3: Designing and Texturizing

We add nail impressions, grinder texture, and other surface markings to give each shutter a one-of-a-kind design. No two shutters are the same.

Step 4: Sanding

We sand down the boards to prepare a smooth, touchable surface for assembling and staining.

Step 5: Assembling and Reinforcing

We assemble the shutters, adding screws to reinforce the boards. This gives strength to the overall shutter, ensuring long-term durability.

Step 6: Staining

We stain the final shutter with a Cabot semi-transparent exterior stain and sealer. This not protects the cedar against the outdoor elements, but it also enhances the design, texture, and natural grain found in cedar.

Step 7: Inspecting

Finally, we inspect each shutter to ensure the consistency and quality of our craftsmanship before we package and ship them to you.
