Handcrafted Cedar Window Shutters

Custom Built for Exterior Use — Made in the USA

Our handcrafted cedar window shutters are built to order using solid cedar boards designed specifically for exterior use. Each set is custom sized to your window and assembled by hand to create a durable, rustic accent that enhances the character of your home.

Unlike mass-produced or synthetic shutters, real cedar offers natural strength, texture, and longevity that performs reliably in changing weather conditions.

Key highlights:

  • Custom sized for your exact window measurements
  • Solid cedar construction — no synthetic materials
  • Hand assembled for durability and character
  • Designed for long-term exterior performance

Built for Real Exterior Conditions

Cedar is naturally resistant to moisture, insects, and decay, making it one of the most dependable materials for exterior shutters. Every set is cut, textured, sanded, reinforced, and stained by hand to ensure long-term durability and structural integrity.

Because each shutter is crafted individually, no two sets are exactly alike. Natural variation is part of the material — and part of the appeal.

Authentic Rustic Craftsmanship

Visible nail impressions, textured surfaces, and natural grain variation are intentional design characteristics, not defects. These details preserve the authenticity of the wood and reflect the craftsmanship behind each set.

The result is a shutter with depth, warmth, and contrast that artificial materials and uniform factory finishes simply cannot replicate.

Designed to Complement Your Home

The rustic design complements a wide range of architectural styles, including farmhouse, brownstone, modern, and log cabin homes. Whether installed on siding, brick, or stone exteriors, the shutters add curb appeal without appearing manufactured or generic.

Staining

We stain our shutters using Cabot semi-transparent stain and sealer, which protects the wood while preserving its natural character. This finish penetrates into the cedar rather than sitting on the surface like paint, allowing the grain and texture to remain visible.

The sealer helps guard against moisture, UV exposure, and weathering, reducing the risk of peeling or flaking over time. Because the stain enhances rather than hides the wood, the shutters age naturally and can be refreshed in the future without heavy sanding or stripping.

Why We Choose Cedar

Solid Cedar is naturally suited for exterior use. Unlike synthetic materials, cedar ages with character rather than deterioration.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long does it take to build my shutters?

Standard build time is 1–7 days depending on size.

2. How long does shipping take?

Most orders arrive within 5–8 business days after production.

3. Are shutters sold as a set or individually?

All shutters are sold as a pair (one set of two).

4. Do they come stained and ready to install?

Yes. Every shutter is fully stained, sealed, and ready for installation. Unless you choose the no-stain option.

5. Can cedar be used outdoors?

Absolutely. Cedar is naturally rot-resistant and ideal for exterior use.

6. Do you offer custom sizes?

Yes — if you need a size not listed, you can request a custom quote.

7. What mounting hardware do I need?

Most homeowners use standard exterior screws suited to their siding type.

8. Do you accept returns on custom shutters?

Because each set is handmade to order, we cannot accept returns unless the product arrives damaged or if we gave you the wrong size/shutter.

9. Will the color look exactly like the photos?

Cedar is a natural wood, and each board has its own unique grain and character. Because of this, slight variations in tone can occur. Screen settings may also cause colors to appear a bit different online. These natural differences are part of what gives each shutter its handcrafted, rustic look.

10. How do I measure for the correct size?

To determine the correct height, measure the height of your window opening — this will be the shutter height you select.

For width, measure the width of your window and divide that number by two. This gives you a general guideline for how wide each shutter should be. We offer five different shutter widths, so you can choose the option that best fits your window and the look you prefer.

The width does not need to be exact. Some homeowners prefer a wider, more substantial shutter, while others prefer a slimmer profile — it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

We also provide a width guide chart in the product images to help you choose the best option for your window.
